NMSSM Higgs Discovery at the LHC ∗

چکیده
We demonstrate that Higgs discovery at the LHC is possible in the context of the NMSSM even for those scenarios such that the only strongly produced Higgs boson is a very SM-like CP-even scalar which decays almost entirely to a pair of relatvely light CP-odd states. In combination with other search channels, we are on the verge of demonstrating that detection of at least one of the NMSSM Higgs bosons is guaranteed at the LHC for accumulated luminosity of 300 fb −1 .

Difficult Scenarios for NMSSM Higgs Discovery at the LHC
We identify scenarios not ruled out by LEP data in which NMSSM Higgs detection at the LHC will be particularly challenging. We first review the ‘no-lose’ theorem for Higgs discovery at the LHC that applies if Higgs bosons do not decay to other Higgs bosons — namely, with L = 300 fb−1, there is always one or more ‘standard’ Higgs detection channel with at least a 5σ signal. However, we provide e...
متن کاملEstablishing a No-Lose Theorem for NMSSM Higgs Boson Discovery at the LHC
We scan the parameter space of the NMSSM for the observability of at least one Higgs boson at the LHC with 300 fb integrated luminosity, taking the present LEP2 constraints into account. We restrict the scan to those regions of parameter space for which Higgs boson decays to other Higgs bosons and/or supersymmetric particles are kinematically forbidden. We find that if WW -fusion detection mode...
متن کاملTowards a No-Lose Theorem for NMSSM Higgs Discovery at the LHC
We scan the parameter space of the NMSSM for the observability of a Higgs boson at the LHC with 300 fb integrated luminosity per detector, taking the present LEP constraints into account. We focus on the regions of parameter space for which none of the usually considered LHC detectionmodes are viable due to the fact that the only light non-singlet (and, therefore, potentially visible) Higgs bos...
متن کاملHiggs bosons at 98 and 125 GeV at LEP and the LHC
We discuss NMSSM scenarios in which the lightest Higgs boson h1 is consistent with the small LEP excess at ∼ 98 GeV in e+e− → Zh with h→ bb and the heavier Higgs boson h2 has the primary features of the LHC Higgs-like signals at 125 GeV, including an enhanced γγ rate. Verification or falsification of the 98 GeV h1 may be possible at the LHC during the 14 TeV run. The detection of the other NMSS...
متن کاملDi-photon Higgs signals at the LHC in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model
The NMSSM contains a Higgs singlet in addition to the two Higgs doublets typical of the MSSM, thus resulting in a total of seven physical Higgs mass states. Therefore, the phenomenology of the NMSSM Higgs sector can vary considerably from that of the MSSM and there are good prospects of finding in regions of the NMSSM parameter space Higgs signals that cannot be reproduced in the MSSM. We exami...
